A parameter on Orbit Trap Coloring Algorithms that may modify the trap distance. However it does not modify it in a consistent manner, its behavior will depend on the Trap Mode, Trap Transfers, trap scale parameters, and the Use Solid Color parameter.


Hi Don,

Trap threshold is a bit of a tricky item, and how it behaves depends upon the trap mode you have chosen and whether the "use solid color" box is checked. For example, with the "Closest" trap mode the trap threshold will broaden the region of the screen that is colored as the threshold is increased. The coloring is actually extending beyond the threshold limits, which you can demonstrate by clicking the "use solid color" box. This forces to coloring to the background color outside the threshold. Look ar the first two uprs below to see a demonstration of this.

The closest trap mode is a bit of an exception as far as the behavior of trap modes go. More typical is the behavior of the "First" Trap mode. This trap mode always clips at the threshold boundary. If "use solid color" is checked the region outside the threshold will be colored with the background color, otherwise it will still be colored a solid color, but with the color of index = 0 in the color gradient. This is shown in the last two uprs.
