A pattern that has been scaled down to where the individual elements that go on to make the pattern are not readily distinguishable. The appearance of a surface other than the normal smooth coloring.

With virtually all of Mark Townsend's textures (most of which I really happen to like) you need to use TrapShape Block so that you can control the trap size, and you may also need to use Trap Transfer to modify the transferred distance for coloring.
