OK, now I think your question is about isolating ONE flower, from a whole bunch of flowers on a spiral. Yes?

There are two possible ways to do this which I will illustrate with a .upr based on one layer from the "Challenge9+CAM3" image. One of these methods usually works. On a complex image you would need to do these things on all layers.

Using Some Iterations

Method 1: Use "Trap Select" at the top of the Trap Parameters list and "Some iterations" to limit the iterations. In the .upr below I have told UF to "Trap 1 iteration and skip 10". I found that starting with iteration #6 gave a good, basic flower to work with.

I've left the background black so you can see there are still two little red "specks" of very small flowers below the big one but it's a good starting point - you could probably zoom in on the big flower and avoid including the small ones or you could use a mask or clipping shape to hide/remove them from view.

Make the Black solid colour on the Outside Tab transparent to clear the background of all colour.

Using "Trap Only" Trap Mode

Method 2: Use a "Trap Only" Trap Mode. This will give you a single example of the whole trap shape. Usually you have to zoom out or use "Reset Location" on the Location tab to see the whole trap properly, at a magnification of 1.

In my example (magnification=1), TWO flowers are shown, probably because this is a Julia formula, but they are nice and clean. Just zoom in on one and clear the black background colour to get the image you want.

Does this help?

Using a Mask

Lieselotte Zängl wrote:

"The question is: How to separate (cut) the flower from its background (of the whole created picture). For example: Your challenge 9+CAM 2 Image has many flowers."

The problem is basically that the bottom Layer 1 is a texture layer that does not have a trap shape (like the flower layers) that you can "cut out" using the methods I suggested. Simply turning Layer 1 off makes the leaves on Layer 2 lose some of their colour (because I used "Lighten" merge mode and the leaves need a bit of that green from below), so you felt forced to render the image with that texture background, yes?

The solution to this Layer 1 problem then is to use a MASK...

If you make a copy of Layer 2 (leaves), drag it to below Layer 1 (background) and apply it as a "mask" to Layer 1 you can use UF to cut out and "keep" the leaf shapes from the background texture and make the rest of the layer, outside the leaves, transparent. Ta-da! No more rubbing out in Photoshop! :)

Below is the whole of the Challenge9+CAM2 .upr with a mask layer attached to the bottom texture layer... the leaves are still very pale (but not as bad as rendering this with no base layer at all!), and of course you would need to do a little work on all layers to make a single flower from the spiral, this is just to show you how a mask works to solve this cutting out problem on the bottom layer. :)

As for other images you just have to look at each one to see what is possible. Use my earlier tips on layers that use traps and specific shapes you are interested in. For "solid" texture layers you can cut out the parts you need using masks (make the masks from copies of layers that have the trap shapes you want to cut out).
