Organize UF Files

Amy,
"I'm having a lot of trouble keeping track of all the files I have for UF4 and was hoping that I could get some suggestions on how others manage to file away works in progress, possibilites, favorite formulae, images and such. "
I arrange my uprs by month in an "In Progress" folder. If I pursue and finish images, I then also save them to permanent "Finished" files.
RE: Formulas, within my Formulas\Public folder, I have made two sub-folders -- "Database" and "Favorites". Because they are both within the Public folder, they all get updated when I update from the online database. I drag my favorite files (entire .ufm, .ucl, .uxf files, not just individual formulas) to the Favorites folder and everything else to the Databse folder. Since I only have about 6 or 7 formula authors that I use regularly, this keeps them handy for me without changing their locations.
"Do you actually go back to your 'possibilities' or do you have more of a tendancy to start anew? If you migrated to UF5, did you reorganize, use the same files, or use it as an opportunity for 'spring cleaning'?"
I've used the same organizational system for the last 10 years since version 2. I'm sure other folks have different and probably better systems, but this works for me.
"Janet, your tutelage has made UF4 one of the most important software packages on my computer. Will you be doing a class in UF5? "
My plan is to write an e-book that encompasses what these first two courses contain (for UF4), add additional information that has never been published, and then add and integrate the UF5 specific information. It's a big project, particularly because none of us have yet fully wrapped our minds around V5. When I wrote these courses, I'd been working with version 3 for several years. In order to do an equally comprehensive job with version 5, I'm going to need to have much more experience with it myself. I not only need to understand the concepts intimately, but I need to fully determine the order in which they're best learned and applied. I know folks are anxious for V5 help, but if I rushed to put something together quickly, it wouldn't be the quality I believe it needs to be.
Hope that helps.

Does anyone use any particular software to organize, tag and track your uprs and rendered fractals? Thanks. David

I use several.
1. To compare upr's and ufr's I use Excel. You can download a example spreadsheet here. Next to tutorials, click on the (.xlsx)
2. To track the sequence of their design, I use Lumapix. You can view a sample here. (Next to tutorials, click on (.jpg]])
3. To track all of the images, I use a database called Mediadex; (It used to called Cumulus)
Hope this helps, Dave (det)
