Nova fractal

Nova is a formula that is related both to the mandelbrot and newton fractals. It has a 'relaxation' parameter that does some very interesting things to the fractal when tweaked (particularly on the 'inside' of the lake).

Another NovaMandelbrot Inside
This is a spot on the inside of a really relaxed Nova Mandelbrot.
It is interesting to note that despite all the detail, we are not at a very high magnification here (only 20x) nor many iterations (only 120).
There are 5 layers and "Exponential Smoothing" and "Orbit Traps" coloring are used.

This fractal is a point on the Inside of the Nova lake with relaxation turned up (including an imaginary offset too) and an exponent of 3.0.
A single layer of exponential smoothing coloring is all that is used, all of the structure and complexity is being generated by the formula.
