Coloring Formula in UFM

From Ultrafractal Wiki

Hi Damien, Hi all,

Since there seems to be a renewed interest in formula writing, I have a request for all the wonderful authors. Is it possible to have parts of a coloring formula incorporated into a ufm? What I have in mind is a simple 3 - 5 armed spiral and a double spiral which incorporates juliatrap.ucl in the sam.ucl folder. I would like to have something that resembles the two layers in the following upr:

Mary,

"Is it possible to have parts of a coloring formula incorporated into a ufm?"

Julia Trap uses a "normal" Julia set calculation as a trap shape, so it is using ufm-like code in a ucl. There's no reason someone couldn't write code to go the other way. However, I expect that the reason you ask for this is because you want to be able to color the Julia fractal, and at the moment you can only use whatever colorings Samuel built into Julia Traps.

Well, there's already a way to do that. Use Orbit Traps Gradient UF5 and use the Formula + Gradient Coloring Trap from common.ulb and you can use any fractal formula as a trap shape, and then you can put any coloring on it you want. Here's a similar fractal built with Smooth coloring:
